A calmer rhythm

This phase was a close reading of the timeline itself. The information was already there, but it needed more air and a steadier rhythm. Small labels gained breathing room, the text edge and timeline gutter were brought into line, headings settled into the same grid as the entries beneath them, and the strongest color was reserved for the moments that deserved attention. Empty articles were also kept from haunting the chronology.

The home page became more direct at the same time. The large welcome message stepped back, navigation became less visually heavy, and useful controls moved nearer to the timeline where they belonged. Two first-run pieces were added as gentle examples of what a new writing room could contain: a welcome note and a practical guide to the page’s tools. Backup and restore controls were aligned with the rest of the library instead of feeling like an afterthought.

Nothing here asked the writer to do more. It made the existing experience easier to read, easier to trust, and less likely to get in the way—preparing the home page to become more personal in the phase that followed.
