Letters guide
Make this room yours
Why Letters is free, local by default, and built to feel like your own place to write.
Hi. I made Letters because I wanted one simple, cozy place to write.
No signup. No registration. No plan to choose. Open a page and begin. Everything you write is saved automatically in this browser.
A room that feels like you
I never wanted themes to be an afterthought. The way a page looks changes how it feels to write on it, so themes are a first-class part of Letters.
- Start with one of the ready-made themes.
- Choose the typeface that sounds most like you.
- Pick a backdrop or mix a fresh palette with the random color generator.
- Then stop setting things up and write.
A blank page is easier to face when it feels like your page.
The whole idea
Free at the centre
The core of Letters is free and useful on its own. Your writing stays in this browser by default. You do not need an account, and your words are not sent to a cloud.
Browser data can be cleared, so export a backup now and then if the words matter.
A little cloud on the horizon
Letters Cloud is coming soon. I’m working on sync across devices, end-to-end encrypted storage, collaboration, sharing, and a few things I’m not ready to spoil yet.
The free writing room stays right here. Cloud will be there if you want your room to travel.
That is it
Choose a theme. Start a new article. Write one honest sentence. The room is yours.
